Course content

Course participants have the opportunity to find out in detail about the new free tools for scanning and transcription of manuscript materials that allow the creation of automatic transcripts and searches of full texts through new technologies:

• The DocScan mobile application is available completely free on the Google Play Store; through this application the mobile android phone becomes a scanning device.
• The ScanTent portable device functions as a mobile phone stand when it is in scanning mode, blocking ambient light and providing non-destructive LED light.
• The Transcribus platform, a new tool for reading manuscript material, which has been previously scanned using the previously mentioned technologies.

Required prior knowledge

It is not necessary to have any special qualifications or previous knowledge, except for the experience that employees in the library and information industry have. It is desirable that participants have an open gmail account.

Duration of the course

The course lasts 2 days for 3 hours.

The number of participants is from 12 to 16.
