Course content
The course on new forms of organizing metadata in librarianship is based on familiarization with new tendencies in the field of organizing and presenting library collections. A brief presentation of the existing ways of describing digital objects, the basic characteristics of the existing metadata schemes and their advantages and disadvantages of application in library and information activities is provided; familiarization with the terminology, structure and principles of the semantic web and its technologies (Linked Open Data) and analysis of examples of good practice in Europe, as well as familiarization with the new format for describing library materials – BIBFRAME (Bibliographic Framework).

Prior knowledge
Knowledge of the process of cataloging library material in automated library systems is required.
Duration of the course
The course lasts 2 days for 3 hours. The number of participants is from 8 to 12.
