The University Library “Svetozar Markovic” participated in the first College Day organized by the International Academic Center and the United States of America Embassy in Belgrade held at Dom omladine on December 14th 2014. Former students from more than 40 colleges and universities in America shared their academic experience with high school students and their parents who showed great interest in this form of education.
In this event the University Library “Svetozar Markovic” presented the newest findings and recommendations in the field of life-long learning, the concept of open courseware and massive online open courses and “Knowledge for All”, the University Library portal which offers lectures of the renowned professors from well-known universities translated into Serbian. While talking with the visitors about the aforementioned topics we concluded that they find these resources and ways of learning quite useful and relevant but at the same time very interesting.
Mr. Michael Kirby, the Ambassador of the United States of America in Belgrade, visited the stand of the University Library and showed genuine interest in the promotional activities which the Library conducts to inform people in Serbia about the possibilities of quality online education offered by the universities from the United States. A successful promotional campaign of open online education content has been organized in 26 towns all around Serbia within the project funded by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Government of Serbia. Both the Embassy and the Library expressed a wish to continue and to improve their cooperation and to provide conditions for the promotion of the quality online education for the wider public.
