About the project

During the two years of the Europeana portal project, the collection of the digitized materials from the European libraries, archives and museums has been enriched with the University Library’s collections – 133,000 pages from the Oriental Collection and 28,000 from the Alexander the Great Collection published in different European languages and bought in from professor Heinrich Christensen.

Nineteen research libraries and four leading organizations such as Europeana, the European Library, CENL, LIBER and CERL participated in the project Europeana Libraries.

Goals

Photographs of the Spanish Civil War, Ottoman manuscripts, historic films in the field of medicine, thousands of theses, journals and academic articles are only some of the materials that have become available after the end of the project. Invaluable sources for researchers with the feature of searching the full text were created and a big network of national, university and research libraries was established.
