Upon User Request
Digitization of doctoral dissertations is a Library service whereby users can submit a request to have their dissertation — held in the Library’s collection in printed form — digitized and entered into the Repository, and added to other collections of digital dissertations (current dissertations and those from the interwar period). Digitized dissertations are available in open access.
Requests may also be submitted by persons who are not the authors of the dissertation but hold the copyright (heirs of rights, etc.).
The request is submitted electronically. Along with the request, the user must provide completed, signed, and scanned declarations (a Declaration of Authorship and a Declaration of Use), and may also submit additional metadata about the dissertation.
If the user already possesses an electronic version of the dissertation, they may offer it to the Library, in which case they are required to complete a Declaration confirming that the printed version held in the Library’s collection and the submitted electronic version are identical.
