The MILAGRO project (MIgrants and Local communities Actively GROwing together for inclusive societies), funded by the European Union through the European Education and Culture Executive Agency , under project number 101147104, within the CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) program, started on June 1, 2024, and will last for two years.
The partners of the MILAGRO project are: Nuova Associazione Culturale Ulisse from Siena (Italy; project coordinator), the University of Utrecht (the Netherlands) and the University Library “Svetozar Markovic”, while the associated partner is SIS Intercultural Study Abroad from Siena.
The project’s activities include: meetings aimed at developing digital and democratic competences, reflection on and sharing of personal experiences (storytelling), events in which local and migrant communities could share their experiences, organization of summer camps, dissemination, training of intercultural mediators and creation of an international information source (an observatory web-site) on inclusive communities. Some activities will be implemented at the local level, while others will be realized through the joint efforts of partners, which will strengthen international cooperation and expand the development of intercultural dialogue.
The general goal of the MILAGRO project is to initiate activities, create tools and opportunities for building intercultural dialogue between the local population and migrants, as well as to develop the democratic competencies that will imply positive and long-term relations, based on mutual understanding, respect and solidarity.
