Accredited courses for librarians in 2014

The University Library “Svetozar Markovic”, by the Decision of the National Library of Serbia on December 30, 2013, accredited the program Information literacy in libraries: commercial and non-commercial electronic sources of information, as part of continuous professional development in library and information activities for the year 2014. This accredited program is held in the new educational center on the first floor of the University Library “Svetozar Markovic” and is organized in cooperation with the Serbian Academic Library Association. The program lasts a total of 6 hours (split over two days) and is scored with 6 points.

The goal of the program is to familiarize the participants with the latest information regarding the use of available electronic sources, both commercial and open access. Through an intensive workshop and lectures followed by exercises, participants are enabled to learn or renew knowledge about relevant resources, which are important for everyday work in the library and information activity, and which can be especially valuable in working with users.

Some of the topics covered in this program are: searching techniques, the Open Access Movement, digital repositories, commercial journals available through KoBSON, electronic books, reading 2.0, Open Access books (more info).
